Studies show that flaxseeds lower cholesterol, fight heart disease, diabetes, prostate and breast cancer. They contain both the soluble and insoluble fiber. Flaxseeds are high in antioxidants, (lignans) and are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids.
Flax is a gelatinous food. One of the many benefits of consuming gelatinous foods is that these gels move through the intestinal tract absorbing toxins along the way for elimination. This helps to detoxify the body. One of the toxins eliminated is excess cortisol, which is the stress hormone responsible for heart disease and is stored in belly fat.
Grind flaxseed before using it (otherwise it is indigestible) and store it in the refrigerator.
